For a decade now a highly innovative biotech R&D platform has been created not in Harvard or Cambridge, but by a small team working independently in New Zealand.
Weir_Science Ltd was founded by CEO and CSO Dr Iona Weir, PhD. Dr Weir is a cell biologist with over 35 years leading the development of innovative biotech products such as popular gut health product Phloe® and oral pharmaceutical immunity-modulating eczema drug LYP-010.
Flying under the radar, over the past 10 years Weir_Science has built a family of international patents and a burgeoning range of breakthrough products in dermatology, daily skin care, and now postmenopausal women’s urogenital health. These diverse products all are built upon Weir_Science’s proprietary Myrecil® Platform, a new science of cellular health through regulation of the fundamental process of apoptosis.

Weir_Science’s proprietary Myrecil® Platform is a new science of cellular health by regulation of apoptosis, the body’s natural cellular renewal and recycling process.
Myrecil has evolved from Dr Iona Weir’s three decades of original R&D in this field, starting from her award winning research where she demonstrated that apoptosis in plants could be halted, reversed, and used to regulate human apoptosis.
Fast forward to today and The Myrecil Platform is producing exciting breakthroughs in fields as diverse as eczema treatment (two successful clinical trials in US and NZ) and female urogenital health (a third clinical trial under way for this application). It’s also been through extensive chemistry as well as microarray for gene expression. Weir_Science’s dermatology and daily skin health systems Atopis and AtopisMed have been in market at test-scale for seven years now, with highly successful results. They are now about to be joined by the Myrecil-driven postmenopausal health system Myregyna®, launching July 2024. This will be followed by a new luxury skin health system IMOSkin® planned for 2025.
